A February to Remember

This past February, I embarked on an unforgettable three-day journey through the vibrant design scene of Los Angeles. From cutting-edge showrooms to exquisite culinary experiences and scenic walks, every moment was brimming with inspiration and creativity. To fully immerse myself in the creative energy of Los Angeles, I chose to stay in a cozy Airbnb nestled in the heart of West Hollywood. This vibrant neighbourhood, alive with character and charm, offered the perfect base for my trip as someone who finds inspiration walking the streets. Each step brought me closer to the heart of design, allowing me to absorb the surroundings and experience the city from a local’s perspective.

Here's a glimpse into my adventure.

Day 1: The Window LA & Lawson-Fenning

The journey began at The Window LA, where art and design intersected. The curated pieces and innovative displays set the tone for an inspiring day. This showroom showcases a unique range of vintage finds, perfectly curated for the cool design focused market of LA and beyond. You can find antique sculptures, handmade ceramics, jewelry, modern art, a special piece for any collector.

Next, I visited Lawson-Fenning, a haven of mid-century modern elegance blended with contemporary flair. I would be thrilled to incorporate some of their exquisite pieces into upcoming projects here in Melbourne. The showroom's aesthetic resonated with me on a personal level, striking a balance between innovation and timeless elegance. I found myself especially captivated by the sculptural quality of their lighting designs and the commanding presence of the Ojai Lounge Chair, a true statement piece.

Day 2: A Blend of Creativity & Nature

The second day was all about conversations, creativity, and a dash of outdoor adventure. I had the unique opportunity to meet Talia, the founder of Kinney Block, at the exclusive Soho Holloway House. Our dialogue about design, community, and collaboration was enriching and thought-provoking.

Later in the day, I visited The Future Perfect, a showroom that lived up to its name with its cutting-edge approach to design. The showroom itself was housed within the beautiful mansion once owned by Samuel Goldwyn of MGM.

Following that, I took a tranquil walk up Runyon Canyon, a refreshing escape that offered both inspiration and stunning views of the city.

Day 3: A Feast for the Senses

The final day was packed with unforgettable experiences. I started with a visit to Apparatus Studio, where each piece spoke of meticulous craftsmanship and bold creativity. The space was a symphony of sensory experiences, pulling you into its carefully curated ambiance the moment you stepped inside. Your gaze immediately lands on the textured pebbled walls. Overhead and on the far wall, a striking lighting installation commands attention. As you take it all in, a captivating scent lingers in the air, completing the immersive journey.

For lunch, I indulged in the vibrant ambiance of The Proper Hotel's Palm Restaurant. Designed by the renowned Kelly Wearstler, the space was a visual and culinary feast, brimming with her signature daring aesthetic.

To wrap up the trip, I took a long scenic walk to the Sezanne pop-up in Santa Monica. The blend of French charm and the thoughtfully curated designs made for a perfect end to the journey- I spent a small fortune.
